Adam tops rankings after a successful junior squash season

Grand Prix Rankings Report 2011/12

Another successful Norfolk Junior Squash Grand Prix season concluded at EAT&SC, Norwich in July and provided another opportunity for Norfolk's Junior squash players to experience competitive tournament squash in a supportive and friendly club environment.

Any junior player from any county is welcome to enter a NJS Grand Prix, and this season we have also seen players from Comberton and Crown Squash Clubs in Cambridgeshire playing and enjoying the events.

As a graded Tournament, all standards can be accommodated, from beginner to County U19 standard with all players being given a competitive series of matches, and the opportunity of learning how to mark and referee matches from an early age.

The season comprised eight Tournaments between October 2010 and July 2011 at various venues around Norfolk , and saw Adam Sinkins from Fakenham emerge as the overall Tournament Series winner with an impressive 5 wins and 2 second place finishes. Jordan Creed finished a clear second with 2 wins and 1 second place, and Alex Williams also gained 1 Tournament win.

Ailish Reeson from Barnham Broom, with 5 Tournament appearances was the top finishing female, and impressively, 7 players played in all 8 Tournaments. So congratulations to Martin Jolley, Robby Coates, Sam Henden, Claire Jolley, Joshua Hall, Bronwyn Moxey and Amberly MacKenzie for their 100% attendance. Well done also to Adam Sinkins, Giles Evans, Izaak Butler and Liam Mooney for appearing in 7 of the 8 events. Not surprisingly all of these 11 players have shown consistent improvement over the season therefore confirming the benefit of regular Tournament participation.

Adam Sinkins also achieved most group wins with 5, followed with Bonnie Butler with 3 wins and Jordan Creed, Martin Jolley, Milo Butler , Izaak Butler, Prakrit Kumar and Joshua Hall with 2 apiece.

Top of the Club attendance table was Broadland Sports Club at Fleggburgh near Gt. Yarmouth with an impressive 77 appearances closely followed with EAT&SC on 72 and Fakenham on 59. So congratulations also to Kevin Cooke, Rob Hambrook, Richard Millman, Jack Pearce, Mark Heazle and Roly at Broadland, David Youngs at EAT&SC, Bruce Bushell at Fakenham and all the other coaches and parents and helpers around the county for encouraging this participation and making the tournaments possible.

An awards presentation for all of the Grand Prix winners and participants will be held at 1pm on Saturday 24 th September during a break in play during the Norfolk Junior Closed at EAT&SC, Norwich, we hope you can all be present.

All the Grand Prix finishing positions, rankings and attendance records can be viewed on the attached link to the NJS GP Rankings chart. Thanks also to Tim Butler for his time and effort in preparing this superb information.
