Norfolk Junior Squash players are being urged to attend two or more England Squash sanctioned events, including a new one set for Norwich, in order to get a national squash ranking.
To be considered for the Eastern Area Training Squads junior players need to attend some ES sanctioned events and gain a ranking before being considered, explained NJS officer Tony Henden. "Any promising player can then be considered from the ranking list. This is not only a gauge of ability but also a gauge of commitment.
"I would therefore recommend that this selection criteria is brought to the attention of all county squad players and their team managers. With recommendations that interested players should attend a minimum of two sanctioned events to gain a ranking, and more if possible.
A new sanctioned event taking place in Norwich on November 22 and 23, is the East Anglia Junior Open, at the Lime Tree Road club. For further details see Coming Events page.
Other sanctioned events in the Eastern Region are:
4th/5th Oct Area Closed Details to be advised. 22nd/23rd Nov East Anglia Junior Open (Norwich). 29th/30th Nov Tom Elton Barratt Junior Open (Bishops Stortford). 14th/15th Feb Redbridge Sports Centre Junior Classic. 28th Feb/1st March Essex Junior Open. 10th/12th April Herts Junior Open Bishops Stortford.
Not all of these events are for all age groups so individuals must check the categories being run.
