The new Norfolk Junior Squash League programme started with a bang on January 6 at Fakenham involving Fakenham I, Diss and Bannatynes I in the Division 1 fixture.
With Michael Baron and Jono Lynn winning for Fakenham and Jack Bell and Dan Betts for Diss the first match was drawn, and with both Andrew Whiting (Diss) and Matt Burton (Fakenham) taking a game from their opponents it ended at 7 games each.
Jack Bell and Dan Betts then went on to claim further wins for Diss against Bannatynes I, but their team mates again could not capitalise in this match when Jordan Creed defeated Alex Brown, and Alex Foster produced further evidence of his rise up the junior standings, to defeat Andrew Whiting 9/0,1/9,9/3,4/9,9/6 to tie the match at 2-2.
In the deciding tie both teams were determined to clinch the first win of the new league and take an early advantage. Michael Baron and Chris Savory gained wins for Fakenham and Harry Lillig for Bannatynes, which left Jono Lynn (Fakenham) the task of bringing his team home. Despite great opposition from Jordan Creed, Jono was able to triumph 9/3,2/9,9/5,4/9,9/5 for a Fakenham win.
In the only other match played Fakenham III (Sam Lanham, Joe Groom, Jamie Tuck and Ryan Seymour) were too strong for EAT&SC III and recorded a 4 wins to nil victory.
