

After several near misses, Jack Bell from Heywood Sports, Diss was finally able to claim his first Junior Squash Grand Prix Tournament win at Greshams School, Holt on Sunday, June 15.
Jack came top of the season's best 54 competitors with his Group 1 win, beating the improving Jordan Creed, and recent tournament winners Harry Taylor and Alex Foster along the way. Jack recovered from 0-2 down, and saved match point in the fifth to beat Alex 4/11, 9/11, 11/9, 11/7, 13/11. Great performances also came from Tom Morris to finish a best ever third, and Laurie Lacey-Hastings showing further improvement in gaining his first match win in the top group.

In Group 2 top seed Rhodri Oliver claimed a home victory for Greshams with a 3-1 win over Robert Mattocks, who appeared to be returning to form after some inconsistent results recently.
Best match of the group saw Fakenham clubmates Adam Sinkins and Connor Doy fight it out for third place with Adam scraping home 12-10 in the fifth game. A great effort from both players. Alex Brown made his first Grand Prix appearance and fought well to finish fifth.

Top performances in Group 3 came from Joe Groom and Leyton James from Fakenham, and Jamie Foyster from EAT&SC, Norwich. These 3 played each other for top spot and gained one win each. Joe narrowly winning the group by virtue of winning one more game.

Virtually all 9 players in Group 4 are capable of competing in the higher group. With many juniors of similar ability competing, there is opportunity for individuals showing the most improvement and consistency to move rapidly up the rankings. Fakenham produced another winner in this group with Ryan Seymour winning all his four matches.

Group 5 produced the day's most comfortable group winner, with Jake Bond showing that he is now ready to step up a level. Daniel Foyster and Alex Coates showing improvement by both winning 3 out of their 4 matches

Group 6 contained players from age 7 upwards and saw a great first group win for Olivia Boyce from Reepham, narrowly preventing a Bond double by beating Liam Bond 2-1. Toby Bennett also performed well on his return to Grand Prix action, and Sam McCluskey also managed a great first best of 3 match win in his second Grand Prix.
