

Over 40 junior players enjoyed the spacious surroundings at Norwich Sportspark for the penultimate Norfolk Junior Squash Grand Prix of the season on Sunday June 13.
In group 1, Alex Williams took a second consecutive Grand Prix win without conceding a game and Connor Doy showed further improvement with a best ever second place.

In group 2 Sam Bradshaw from Comberton, Cambridge , played with great technique and consistency against older opponents, to claim the group win without dropping a game. Nathan Taylor edged out Oli Bacon-Hilton 3-2 for second place.

Group 3 also produced a convincing winner as Andrew Black was able to overcome Robby Coates, Aaron Smith and Will Henden without seriously being troubled. Martin Jolly gained two hard fought wins to finish fourth overall to continue his improvement.

Group 4 produced three close matches in the first round to shown the close level of ability between the players. Giles Evans, returning from injury, was able show most improvement from the last Grand Prix in beating Jesse Baker and Bandon Fairbrother for a welcome group win.

Liam Bond justified his top seeding in group 5 by winning the group but he was made to fight hard all the way by both Ailish Reeson and Prakrit Kumar. Young Sam McCluskey again did well to finish fourth.

Groups 6 and 7 contained 7 players each who played a round robin format. In Group 6 things were close with Phil Davis and Daniel Heffer both winning 5 matches and Katie Cox and Alice Heffer with 4 wins each. Phil taking the group by virtue of more points won.
Group 6 Final Placings: 1. Phil Davis 59 Pts, 2.Daniel Heffer 55 Pts, 3. Katie Cox 54 Pts, 4. Alice Heffer 50 Pts, 5. Toby Bennett, 37 Pts, 6. Jessica Arneil 29 Pts, 7. Olivia Botce 29 Pts
Charlie Simpson gained another Grand Prix Trophy with a clear win in group 7. The remaining places were however much closer with just 9 points between second and sixth places. Claire Jolly finished with 5 wins, but Emily McCluskey pinched third by gaining good points score in each of her matches.
Group 7 Final Placings: 1. Charlie Simpson 60 Pts, 2.Claire Jolly 55 Pts, 3. Emily McCluskey 50 Pts, 4. Josh Sinkins 48 Pts, 5.Joshua Hall 48 Pts, 6.Thomas Holland 46 Pts, 7. Bronwyn Moxey 21 Pts.
Special mention to player of the day Sam Bradshaw, and to Aaron Smith and Thomas Holland for competing in their first Grand Prix. Also Claire Jolly for her excellent marking performances and Bronwyn Moxey for great spirit against more experienced players.
