

Jordan Creed made it three wins out of the last four at the latest Norfolk Junior Squash Grand Prix at Oasis Leisure and Bannatynes Health & Racquet Club in Norwich on March 15.
With 40 players from age 8 to 18 competing, recent Grand Prix winners Jordan Creed and Seb Denby progressed comfortably through to another Group 1 final, where Jordan continued his impressive form by recording a 3-0 win to make it three Grand Prix wins out of the last four. Alex Williams recovered superbly from 0-2 against Connor Doy to finish a creditable 5th, and Nathan Taylor and Jamie Foyster gained some good experience playing n group 1 for the first time.
Group 1 Final Placings: 1. Jordan Creed, 2. Seb Denby, 3. Laurie Lacey-Hastings, 4. Alex Brown, 5. Alex Williams, 6. Connor Doy, 7. Nathan Taylor, 8. Jamie Foyster.
Group 2 as expected proved to be an extremely close and competitive group. Jonathan Warrin did just enough to justify his no.1 seeding by winning the group with a narrow 3-2 victory over Oli Bacon-Hilton. Likewise Sam Lanham beat William Henden 3-2 for 3rd position and Daniel Roberts again beat Alex Coburn 3-2 for 5th place. Despite not winning a game Alex Youngman forced both Daniel Roberts and Dominic Skuse into tie breaks to demonstrate his ability at this level.
Group 2 Final Placings: 1. Jonathan Warrin, 2. Oli Bacon-Hilton, 3. Sam Lanham, 4. William Henden 5. Daniel Roberts, 6. Alex Coburn, 7. Dominic Skuse, 8. Alex Youngmam.
Group 3, played at Oasis, also ran almost exactly to seeding and saw continued improvement from Jake Bond who progressed through to the final against Robert Davis. After taking the fourth set strongly, Jake allowed Robert to take a good lead in the deciding game and was never able to catch up giving Robert a hard-fought group win. Jamie Matthews finished well in third, and Jack Andrews fought out a gutsy 3-2 win over the tiring Samuel Henden for 6th.
Group 3 Final Placings: 1. Robert Davis, 2. Jake Bond, 3. Jamie Matthew, 4. Tom Snowling, 5. Giles Evans, 6. Jack Andrews, 7. Sam Henden.
Groups 4 & 5 were played at Bannatynes and saw a surprise group 4 victory for Brandon Fairbrother from Fakenham. Brandon gained 87 Points from a maximum possible 90 which was enough to head the group after Izaac Butler had fatally slipped to a 15-9 defeat to Jackson Yaxley leaving him 3 points short on 84 Pts. Daniel Fuller matched Brandon with 4 wins, but scored poorly in his defeats to finish below Edmund Youngs in 4th.
Group 4 Final Placings: 1. Brandon Fairbrother 87 Pts, 2. Izaac Butler 84 Pts, 3. Edmund Youngs 70 Pts, 4. Daniel Fuller 69 Pts, 5. Ailish Reeson 67 Pts, 6. Jackson Yaxley 62 Pts, 7. Jade Spalding 45 Pts.
The two most outstanding players in group 5, Liam Bond and Jagan Crane progressed comfortable through to the final and produced the match of the group. Jagan's extra strength and speed was matched by Liam's court craft and understanding of the game. After leveling at 2-2 Liam found the fifth game one game too many, allowing Jagan the 3-2 win in front of an appreciative crowd. The remainder of the group was occupied by many of Norfolk's up and coming young female players who also produced some enjoyable squash.
